Interview with Don Hopkins, the curator of the Mountain Crosses Museum, Horsepasture, Virginia.

Links related to Fairy Stones (staurolite -- Iron Aluminum Silicate Hydroxide) and the regions:

Fairy Stone State Park

Staurolite Structure (Fairy Stones)

Longstreet Highroad Guide to the North Carolina Mountains by Lynda McDaniel (Standard Tale of Fairy Stones - a good story if it can be proven that it is pre-Columbian. The Cherokee seems to have had limited knowledge of Christianity before the arrival of the European-Americans.)

Soundseeing Tour of the Haunted Bikeshop at Foster Falls, Virginia Charles tells stories about our house at Foster Falls that was built in 1902. The tales range from the supernatural to very human activities. We end the podcaast with Junkyard Fiddle by the Bucketboy Bluegrass Band of Chicago, IL. The song is for Amber!

Beckley West Virginia Kennel Club -- April 30 - Mayday 2005 in Lewisburg, West Virginia at the West Virginia State Fairgrounds. The podcast was recorded on I-77 going south from Beckley in our crewcab 1997 Ford Pickup - road noise. A good show for Walter - several ribbons both days. Kathy and Perkins did not have a good day the first day - note the comments about no more AKC shows. Second day was better - a "topknot" problem continues. Next show - UKC in Franklin, Virginia in a couple of weeks. Happy trails, Charles (26:20 minutes)

This weekend working on the kennel -- taking the 10' by 40' side of the barn and making two pens -- with two open pens outside the same size -- 1940's barn made out of oak and chesnut -- hard nailing and drilling. (The photo is Kathy and Perkins at the CharlotteUKC last weekend.) The famous SoapStone Road (Carroll County, VA) ghost story for next week -- Several member of my family (Pattersons) were involved -- blood and . . . Happy trails -- Charles Next weekend -- AKC in Lewisburg, WV -- Beckley Kennel Club -- see you and join our podcast -- two minutes of fame -- or tell us about your dog, give a hint for the novice(s) lost in the Wilderness . . .

Kathy, Charles, Walter, Perkins, et. al. at the UKC Dog Show in Charlotte, NC (near Carowinds on the NC/SC line). Novice learning experience. Our fourth show -- and out first UKC -- Perkins and Kathy got 70 points. We are learning the hard way. Note the flushing of the poodle and I-77 road noises. Happy trails, Charles and Kathy
